Default will the paint chip?

My rear fender has a dent behind the tail light. It's not that noticable, but it does give a slight angle to my turn signals. Can I pop it out, or will that crack or chip the paint? I was gonna take everything off, and pop it out from behind. Thanks

yes. The metal is much harder and thicker than a car. Either live with it or replace the fender. I belive if tou try to pop it out from the underside you will definitely have to replace it. But if you are willing to replace it go ahead and try it, it may work but I doubt it.

probably will chip, but you might try somebody like dent magic.
they do minor dings like this without damaging paint.

It may chip or may not. Nobody can say for sure. A paintless dent pro can likely massage the dent out better than a home hammer banger, unless the dent is just a simple ding. I had a nice ding in the middle of my front fender. I took the tire off. A rubber mallet's top contour is about the same shape as the inside of the fender. I knocked the dent out. You can't even see where it was.

I'm not against replacing it. It would be a good excuse to get a welder so I can do a custom license plate box I was just looking for a cheap fix. Unfortunatly, I'm pretty sure this happened before I took delivery on the bike. Like I said, it's not that noticable. I had the bike for a while before I noticed it, and I got lazy and assumed that it had been too long, that the dealer would blow me off if I told them it came like that.

if you take it off to try it, push it out, don't hammer it, pushing with something fairly soft like a rubber mallet, if it don't come out, or the paint cracks or flakes off, take it to a shop and have them fix the dent and repaint it if necesary, there's no reason at all to replace the fender unless it's really caved in.
