Default Spokes Or Cast Wheels

I was wondering what everones thoghts were on Factory Smooth (spokes) versus the cast wheels for a StreetGlide. Is it true that the 08 smooth wheels wont rust like the older spokes used to?

HarlyFan,
Spoke wheels mean a tube type of tire that is difficult, to say the least to fixyourself on the side of the road. The cast wheels have tubeless tires and can normally be fixed by the rider with a plug toget you home or the dealer for a new tire.

I'm all about cast wheels. Too much work to clean the spokes as well as having to have a tube in the tire.

I LIKE THE WAY SPOKE TIRES LOOK,TO EACH THERE OWN. NEVER ANY MAJOR COMPLAINTS OR JUST TO OBLIVIOUS AND LUCKY? I DID NOT WANT TO PAY THE EXTRA $$ FOR THEM WHEN I BOUGHT THE BIKE BUT DID NOT WANT TO WAIT SENCE BIKE HAD THEM ALREADY. CLEANINGS NOT A BIG DEAL UNLESS YOU ARE EXTREEMLY MATICULOUS? A LOT OF MODS OF VARIOUS TYPES CAN CAUSE SOME POTENTIAL HAVIC ON THE RODE. SPOKE TIRES LOOKCLASSIC ON A CLASSIC.

I have spoke wheels, it a hassle to clean. Spokes need to be tight from time to time. You have to buy a tube and a rim strap when you put on a new tire. I have over 60,000 miles on my 02 road kingand never had a flat, but I dread the thought of using fix a flat to get me to a dealer, if it even works.

IMO cast wheels is the way to go.

Spokes are a high maintenance wheel. Cleaning, tightening, tube, changing, flat issues.
Cast wheels are maintenance free except cleaning. You can fix a flat with a plug to get home or somewhere to replace it in most cases.
Cast wheels look better IMHO. I have had poor luck with spoke wheels on my early bikes. They are a pain IMHO.
They cost more and they are old wheel technology. Why would anyone pay to go back to the stone age...Well maybe Fred Flintstone would....[sm=laughat.gif]

I like the looks of spokes, but hate the cleaning. Cleaning spokes sucks bad. I like my cast wheel for ease of cleaning and the fact that I can carry a patch kit in case I get a flat.

My vote would be for the cast wheels, I have had many flat tires in the past and carry the plug and go kit with a wally world $9.00 12V compressor. Got me home each time, it I had spoke wheels That would have been a lot of tows. Doc

Just put these on my Road Glide and they'll be easier to clean and I personally love the look and yes, they're tubeless.
