Default Adding rear lighting to 01 RK Classic

I'm thinking about adding some lighting to the back of my 01 Road King for more visibility but don't want to mess up the "classic" look so wondering if anyone has done anything like this.
A simple option is to upgrade brake lights and signals to LED, but wondering if there are any other good options or if I should just stick with LED upgrade. Just looking for possible ideas

I went with HD LED lights and rear brake light kit. All my rear lights are red and they all come on as brake lights when braking. Signal lights work normally but are red as they should be for the rear.

Along with upgrading existing lighting to LED I've always added a run/turn/brake module so that all rear lights are always on as running lights. There are also modules or tail lights that will strobe when you brake. I have an LED tail light from Eagle that does that.
Custom Dynamics has the Smart Triple Play. Eagle Lighting also sells a module and I'm sure there are other brands.

I agree with LED and having the RUN / BRAKE / TURN function on the turn signals. The Y-harness is also a good idea, as I also have for other functions. If you also do the front turns, then you'll also need a load EQ. Custom Dynamics and others have the load EQ that also have the built-in run/brake/turn function. My '13 King pics. I also went with smoke lenses and a "low profile" brake lens, and kept the lollipops for the old skool look.

Not sure what you have at the rear of that tourpak, but you can add a light bar there as a brake/run. Take a look at Custom Dynamics for your year bike. You can call them, they are very helpful in figuring out something for you.

I don’t have the tour pack on right now, but this is what the back end looks like. The original owner added these turn, signal bars that have lights built into them. I’m not sure if I can switch those out for LEDs in there also

Your pocket can help decide what you want to spend.

A triple play RUN/TURN/BRAKE module and changing the yellow lens to red to remain legal is rather easy to install (plug and play) and pricing is reasonable.
I believe mine is a Badlands.
That will give you the always ON center tail light but adds the always ON side running lights.
Basically going from 1 to 3 lights when going down the road plus 3 Brake lights instead of 1.

Regarding LED substitution....the pricing is all over and you can run into changes in the "tint" of lights and direction of reflection unless they are a unit.

I remember seeing that light bar with the extra window lens in a catalog but never saw it in action.
Are the extra lenses in light bar dual intensity run+brake ?

That's a good question? I just bought the bike at the end of last season and never checked that. Good excuse to roll the bike out of the garage. Supposed to be in the 50s here on Saturday but still too much salt on the road, but I'll have to check the lights then.
