I just traded a race trailer for a '74 FLH 1200 Electra Glide. What have I got? Good bike/bad bike? Known problems? Things to watch for? What's it worth?

its hard to say whether you have a good or bad bike. i have one buddy that has a 78 FLH and i would ride it across the country without a worry, he rides it as much as he rides his 05 RK. but then i have another buddythat hada 75 FLH and he wouldnt go any farther than 50 miles from his house cause it was a P.O.S.!!!

robertsmau,

First, Welcome from cold, and icy Iowa.

Second, its said a picture is worth a thousand words. Either you have to submit one or the other for us to tell you what you got. Overall, I doubt anyone here would throw away even the worst 74 Electra Glide. But, before we can tell you if you got a good deal or not, we need to see it or hear about what it looks like, overall condition, etc.

get it?

my first instinct is that if you got a clear title with it and it runs AT ALL, then you got a good deal. But that still leaves the discussion WIDE OPEN.

oh, and we do'nt know what the trailer was like that you traded either. (but, to me anything with an engine trumps anything without any day...)

Thanks for the quick responses, here's a pic but I will say it looks better inthe pic than in real life. He had recently given the thing an overhaul but didn't repaint the frame. Why someone would tear a bike down and not repaint or powdercoat the frame is beyond me.

Welcome to the forum. The good bike test make a small road trip for about 200 miles. and you will be able to tell if you have a good or bad bike.
