H-D radios and XM
I have a question for all of you. I have an '07 ultra and was wanting to know if the XM upgrade for the radio is a plug-in unit or is it a whole new radio? I want to stay with XM as I have 2 other XM radios in my cages. If it is a plug-in is it just a module or is it a separate box that plugs in to the radio.

DON'T SPEND THE $500 on the HD XM or even the HD handlebar XM. You can buy a Roady XT, with the auto dock, and go to a place like CYCLEGADGETS.COM and buy the $60.00 radio bracket:

the antenna bracket:

and the direct hard wire cable:

and go to the XM site and buy a short antenna (I bought the one w/ the 2 foot cable)

There are always cheaper ways, but not as clean an installation. I don't have either, but the HD unit is sure the nicest insatllation.

I looked at all of the different options, I already have 2 of the portable units I could have mounted to the handle bars for much cheaper. I agree it is a lot of $$$ but it was worth it for me to not have it on the handle bars and be able to use the current radio controls and have the dispay in the current radio.
