Default question on detachable hardware - help

Hi all,

After reading here how darn difficult it is to install the detachablke hardware, I decided to let the dealer do it on my 08 RG. I have had the front and rear kits installed since I have the sissy bar and the detachable tour pak.

Hard to explain the issue but here goes. When I try to put the rack on, it hits the hinges of the saddlebag. The kit seems to have additional washers (thick, about 1/2" each) that go on the backets for the saddlebag mounts. The dealer put both these washers on the rear bracket which pushes the bags out of alignment. I am thinking that these washers may go on the front and rear saddlebag brackets which would pull the bags away from the frame a bit, but front and back in parralel to the frame. i know, i am confusing all of you and i am sorry about that.

Can anyone post a close up pic of the saddlebag brackets (front and rear) so i can see where these 1/2" washers go. i.e. do they go behind bracket or in front, are they on the front and rear brackets or just the rear. If anyone can also send the instructions to the installation kit that may be helpful too. I realize that this is an imposition so thank you very much for helping. Peace.

In addition to understanding how it should look....

I would be going back to the dealership, show it to the service manager and ask him/her to fix it. They set it up for you, they need to make sure you are happy with the install.

Am I wrong here?

thanks guys.

Dawg, great link. The parts pic does show that washer or spacer (#11) as they call it on the rear saddlebag bracket. That spacer is not their as stock. so, does same spacer need to go on front bracket too?

I wanted to try and fix myself for all the obvious reasons, butI agree with you comment MustBBrent. I have searched lots for a good pic but I havent found one yet.

I appreciate your help here all.
Ted

Here are a couple of pictures that might help you check your installation. Sorry for the lack of focus - my good camera is broken.
