Default Engine Guard or Not

My 06 SG has highway pegs with the stock engine guard, I really never cared for the looks of it however it is comfortable when I am on the road with my highway pegs. I am just wondering how many of you have taken it off? or Wont even think of it?
thanks for your replies....

I took mine off and put the Kuryakyn MarkIV cruise arms on. I think the bike looks much better without the engine guard on it, but if the bike is ever dropped the damage would most definitley be more costly.

Black streetglide? Powdercoat the forks and powdercoat the engine guard and leave it on!

I too didnt like the guard at first. I took mine off and put on some cruise arms but after mutiple long distant rides I really started misssing someplace to put my feet. Not enough variation with the cruise arms. So I put mine back on.

Cut it off? I would be interested in seeing what that looks like.

I put the HD Mustache engine guard on mine. Personally, I liked the looks better than the stock guard, plus it's a couple of more places to put my feet on long rides.

A buddy of mine put his RK on the ground at about 25 mph. He had to replace the engine guard and a bag lid......period.

The last bike I had, a guy at an indy shop dropped. It landed on the engine guard and the bag guard. Not a mark anywhere else on the bike.

Yeah, I say leave it on, or consider a different style.
