Default Fork oil amount

I'm putting progressive lowering springs on my front end soon (1") and was wondering if I should use the same amount of fork oil, or if I use less due to less travel? Tried a search, but no luck. Any help? Thanks

You use the normal amount which I think is like 11.5 ounces

dont think...please refer to the service manual for your specific bike....you could induce a hydraulic lock situation if not correct.

Thanks for the advice, but the service manual says nothing about installing a lowering kit.

If you buy an H-D lowering kit it comes with the instructions.
for a 02-later roadking....for example....initial fill of 11.1 ounces and then take a depth measurement to the fluid with the forks collapsed and the spring out....adjust level to the correct measurement.

11.1 oz. is the correct amount according to the 2005 regular servicemanual for roadkings...so i does appear that the OE amount would be correct even with the lowering kit....

hope this helps

Okay, thanks. I've changed the fork oil before following the manual, but just wanted to be prepared for my install when the new springs arrive. Thanks again!
