Corbin Rumble Seat ?
I know seats are matter of personal taste, but I'm thinking of changing the look of my scoot a tad. I am currently running a Mustang SoLo which I like (I know) but I kinda like the look of the Corbin Rumble Seat. Anyone runnning this seat? Pros? Cons?
Thanks.
Thanks.
I ordered one for my SG and will tell you to look around first. I put mine on last month only to find out the bag guard cutouts were not in the correct location, the seat tongue that goes under the tank barely made it (about an inch to short), the entire seat was bent and one side was longer than the other giving the entie seat a curved to the left appearance when viewed from the rear. I asked for the non heated plain version so they took a heated seat pan and covered it in leather leaving the huge 2 inch heating element switch hole empty! This gave that spot a loose look not to mention the possibility of something poking right through the leather into the hole. **** poor job building it, even the plastic part just past the pop up seat back was longer on one side as was the tail on that side. The pass pad has the bracket for the backrest running half way through it so the passenger feels nothing but that bar right on their tailbone. The rider portion is built for a long legged 6ft plus person with monkey arms. It puts you so far back you cant reach the shifter and brake. I have WildOne chubby bars with plenty of reach and am 5'7' and them some with my boots and could not ride it.
After all that I still wantd the seat. It sits you nice and low and has decent back support. I called corbin and they made me take photos so they could decide on weather or not I was full of ****. Three weeks after they decided it was dicked up they finally came to pickup the seat. This was after three emails telling them no one picked it up yet. Their excuse was that the paperwork was lost. I asked several times if I could get my money back if the rebuild was not to my satisfaction and got no reply on it. Corbin is notorious for not giving you a refund.
End result is I marked the proper areas to be cutout for the bag guards and sent a long email to them asking them to rebuild it with extra foam to push me forward. I included all the problems with the seat and ended it by asking them why they would let something like that go out of the factory? And to top it all off it took them 6 weeks to make it and will take another 8 they say to rebuild it.
Why do I still want it? Because I have kids that love to ride and hate my lowpro sidekick seat. I love the low look but hate the harley backrest I have for the passenger and with the rumble its a quick conversion for the passenger, just pop the backrest up and go then back down for the low look when the kids are not on. They will probably have to use a small gel pad or slide their rear forward a bit to avoid the discomfort of the metal bar on the pass pad. I'm in too deep now and the ball is in their court for now. I will wait on the rebuild before I do anything else.
My 2 cents worth.

Thanks OTB - You seem to want the seat for the same reasons I do. Easy to convert to a two up, but still kinda of have that solo look to the bike. I think I'll keep an eye out for one that looks staright (LOL). PM me if you remember, when you finally get the it back and let me know what you think! Apprecite it. Good Luck.
