I ordered mine from Latus MS, had it in like 4-5 days...........$12.95 delivered.

I just installed it today, what a difference between the 2 springs side-by-side.

The Baisley spring is a stiffer spring than the OEM spring that is part of the oil bypass valve in the cam plate. It increases oil pressure. It costs about $13 and is usually changed out during a cam change by those who want to increase their pressure without buying a new oil pump.

Question is: Are there actually any real/tangible benefits of increased oil pressure? Probably not!

One benifit that I had was that it quieted the ticking down by about 80%, that in itself was worth the money. One thing I did not like was that cold start ups in cold weather pretty much pegged the oil pressure guage. On hot days with oil temps above 220 I would still have 35psi at cruise speeds and 15-20 at idle.

IMO - as long as the oil is not coming out of the engine, better to have a higher oil pressure - that way, you're sure the oil is getting to the top end and squirted on the bottom of the pistons.

See, there are pressure regulated valves in the bottom area of thejugs - at a certain pressure they allow squirting oil onto the clyinder wall - I want to be sure this happens like all the time. Also, getting oil to the top end is a chore (oil needs to get out of the cam plate, get pumped into the lifter, have the lifter "pump up" and help push the oil up the push rods into the rocker arms and then onto the valve seals, etc.) - I also want to make sure this is happening.

I actually did the Baisley spring and a different oil pump (feuling pump). My gauge (assuming it's accurate) goes up to like 50psi when cold, will stay around 40psi when warm and cruising. Warm at idle, never seen it go below like 25-30.

How much does this help in the long run - would need to perform an elobarate study, but makes me sleep better at nights.
