Default Progressive Fork Lowering Kit

I must be missing something. The Progressive fork lowering kit includes 2 additional rebound springs. The instructions say for a 1" drop to use both springs in addition to the stock spring. For a 2" drop it says to use 1 spring in addition to the stock spring. It seems to me it would be just the opposite. Has anyone had any experience with these kits?

Thanks,
Rick

I think you have that wrong for 1" use 1 spring with the stock spring. For 2" use 2 new springs and the stock spring. The springs keep the forks from extending so if you use 2 it makes the legs shorter for more drop.Hope that helps.I was thinking it was back words myself when I first looked at the instructions.Mike

Don't forget to cut 1" off the pvc spacer if you lower it 2".

Don't cut 1 inch off- Check the setup with the spacer sitting in the shock, and cut it 1/4 inch above the top of the shock. Progressive has the instructions on their website. Fly

Thanks for the correction. My memory isn't what I'd like it to be some times. I rememberred needing to cut the pvc to adjust the preload, obviously I didn't remember how much I cut off.

Thanks for the replies. After looking it over a little closer I I've got it figured out.

I remember trying to compress the spring with the help of a buddy and failing a number of times. Then I remember making a magical tool that really simplified the procedure. I drilled a hole in the center of a 16" piece of 2x4. The fork cap was clamped in a vice mounted to the counter top. The fork tube was upside down and the damper rod was sticking through the hole in the 2x4. I stood on the counter top and compressed the fork-with the 2x4-while my buddy spun the fork tube and threaded it onto the cap while he stood on the ground. We've already learned how crappy my memory can be earlier in this thread, but I know that using a piece of 2x4 with a hole in it really made compressing the springs alot easier.
