Trouble installing 7" Visor trim ring on headlight
Bought HD part #69733-05, headlight visor trim ring
Instructions say to loosen stock trim ring retaining screw, install new ring over stock ring, then tighten original screw, then tighten new trim ring screw....sounds simple, huh?
Only trouble is, once installed as above, the ring has large gap at bottom, over 1/4", and cannot be tightened nuff to close gap.
My solution was to remove factory ring completely then bend underlying ring flange outward in several places to grip new trim ring......looks good and holds tight....but was pretty frustrating.
Anyone here run into same problem, and if so, what was the fix?

Ain't no way a new screw could fix this......
I took off both rings to test fit them together off bike, then fit stock ring inside new ring like it would be if installed as per instructions.....the new ring is simply too small inner diameter for it to close up tight on stock ring.

Tried to put one on my 07 SG. Dicked with it for about 2 1/2 hours and could not get it right. Went to my HD dealer and told them my stock headlight ring wasn't sealed and was collecting water inside. They said some do and they would replace under warrenty. I said OK and while you're doing that throw on this frenched ring. Came out 40 minutes later and it fit perfect. NO GAP at the bottom and NO charge!!!!!!!!!! Will wonders never cease. Reno HD, Reno, Nevadanice people.
