SE exaust
This has probably been asked before but here goes. Would I find a noticable difference between the screamin eagle vs. stock exaust on an 08 RK. Don't want anything too loud but would like a little more rumble than I have now.
thanks for your input.

The SE slip-on's will be a little louder. The best advise is to find someone who has them and listen for yourself before you purchase. The dealer may have some you can listen to also.
Agree a bit louder - But changing only the slip-ons WILL NOT give you any performance gain or help deal with the heat issue... Just a bit more noise!!

I'm very pleased with my pipes. I originally wanted Rineharts for the sound (and may switch to them in the future) but I have no desire at present to spend money or time fidgeting with fuel managers so I opted against aftermarkets. Ultimately, the amount of sound wasn't that important, aside from a deep, throaty Harley sound. I just didn't want the stock pipes anymore. I can't speak for any improvement in bike performance. Getting a dyno would have kept me off the road too long. I'm a noob so my body ain't yet attuned to my bikelike some of the Jedi masters I study from on this forum. I've learned enough though to know that I've added at least 1 hp or two. I can say that my perception of improved performance has definietly increased! I know my bike is certified badass simply because it sounds like a certified badass bike. Don't need a $300 dyno to give me that perception. I haven't done any kind of temperature measurements but I believe the amount of engine heat is less than before. The bike doesn't do it's cool-down ping in the garage for the length of time it did before adding the pipes.
Best advice I've learned from this hodge-podge Jedi council is you have to LISTEN to the various types. I didn't commit to the SE until I heard a set on a bike two weeks ago. That rider had the one piece. A couple members have asserted that the one-piece SE S/Os are louder than the two-piece S/Os, which I have. That may be, but in the end hearing is believing. You have to find the sound you want by listening to other bikes. I've asked a handful to let me hear their pipes and they gladly obliged. And always ask riders about their bike setup. Pipes are just a part of the solution. Too many guys add fuel managers and/or engine mods that all affect the way their pipes sound. Also, based on what I've read on here the year and model of a bike plays a factor in how pipes sound.
In conclusion to my dissertation, SE is the way to go. Not too loud but loud enough. Nice rumble - enough to tingle the boys. Saves money on fuel managers. Certifies your bike as badass, and by extension you, the rider.
I'll email you the video of my pipes.
Ciao,
Albany
p.s. +1 on the warranty issue. A big factor in my choice of SE pipes was the warranty. Everyone will say that the MoCo has to prove that aftermarket pipes are the cause should anything happen to the bike. Roger. Got it. But I'm new to this whole biking world and don't have the knowlegde base to really hold my own in a warranty debate with a dealer. If I were going to remain here in Central Cali and more importantly continue to use the dealer who sold me my bike, I wouldn't worry about that. But being military I can't always count on working with dealers with the same levelof professional,

Wow, great answer above. I bought them put thelm on did the stage one noticed nothing. Now I'm rebuilding the engine and putting on Bub 7 td. You have to be satisfied. I'd go listen to a lot of pipes.
Yep, Albany nailed it. I had the SE Street Performance Touring Mufflers on my '07 Road King and really enjoyed SLIGHTLY more sound, but a much deeper rumble than stock. But to squeak out more power it's going to take a high flow intake and ECM reprogramming. This Stage 1 enhancement is easy and can be done for less than $1000 - great bang for the buck!
I got the bike with the "New" SE touring mufflers, Stage 1 intake and the "New" sert. Before I chose the SE's I listened to several dfferent pipes on the bikes. V&H (Had bigshots on my old bike and didn't want them that load on the new one), Rineharts (Very nice), Stock, SE's....I chose the SE's....SLIGHTLY louder than stock but with a nice rumble and bound to get even a little louder as you ride it.
The Dyno shop did a before and after run.....HP and torque increased as follows:
Stock 96 torque 56.3 @ 5600
After dyno and parts above: 69.1 @ 5400
Stock 96 HP: 58.3 @ 5600
After Dyno and parts: 72.09 @ 5400
Now, I'll be the first to admit that I have no idea if those are good number or what.....But I will tell you this....I rode a stock EGC and then jumped on mine.....there is a big difference on the seat of the pants meter. I'm sure it's nothing compared to these 103 etc rebuilds....But there is a noticeable difference between mine and stock and I'm betting the heat issue will be resolved as well....Can't tell yet because it's too cold out......I'm clearly no expert but the posters above describe what I did...Listen to a few different set-ups....Do it OUTSIDE as inside you really can't tell what the sound will be .....Good luck....
