Default Tourque Wrench

Hi all, I am doing some of my ownwork on my scoot. Currently in the middle of a handlbar replacement among other things. Can you recommend a torque wrench for basic repair and maintenance?

Thanks

I recently picked up 2 of the Craftsman "click" type torque wrenches, one in inch pounds and one in foot pounds. The ran about $80 each. I've heard many say you can save a lot with Harbor Freight torque wrenches, especially if you don't do that much wrenching.

I asked this same question recently and received some good feedback.

yeah got my set from harbor freight for about $20 each. I used them for simple stuff. So they are perfect for the job. If I had a full time shop, or worked on my bike evryweek, I'd get a better set, but no need.

Thanks everyone, BillinNY I just read through your original thread as well and checked out the Harbor Freight ones. I actually have the same Ft. lbs one I used on my car tires. So i guess I will just need to get the In. lbs one.

Now one question is that these look like they take only sockets. now for something like the brake lines that uses a open box wrench, how can I torque something line that??

Thanks

Kobalt torque wrench from Lowes. I believe its made by Snap-On and only about $75. I bought one of the $20 Harbor Freight onesand the first thing I tried it on it broke the fastener I was tightening. The second thing I used it on (why did I bother trying?) broke the wrench

yup those are the ones I am seeing. but again those seem to only be for a stocket style screw. what about a open box type screw that you cant get a socket over it?? Are there adapters for this style of torque wrench?

Thanks

Harpoon, for those brake fittings, you should be able to use a 12 point socket with your torque wrench.
