Default Tach

Has anyone installed or scene a tachometer mounted on a Road King Custom?

haven't really noticed
two basic options - 1) dual spedo/tach, expensive, looks good;2) tach mounted on the chrome handlebar bracket cover, less expensive, can be seen without bowing your head, looks good to some, can't use a windshield bag if you have a windshield (that doesn't pertain to your scoot)
I have the latter HD tach on my RKC. and like it a lot.
Try pg 494/495 of this year's HD parts and accessories catalog. Unfortunately it does not show a mount for the mini tach on a FLHRS. I'm sure someone here has had an experience with this and you'll get several ideas.

Yeah, I agree about the $ of the dual gauge. But, I was leaning toward a matching mini tach anyway. The large chrome nacelle gets in the way though.

expensive, but what not on a harley? I like mine, beside with the windshield bag, I didn't have any other options.

I'm looking at this Kuryakyn model. Lots of features not on the HD combo.

That combo looks great! I just like the idea of not bowing my head so much, like the speedometer alrady makes you do. Not that I really look at that gauge all that much! One of the newer mini tachs matches the face of the factory face of the speedometer. I just can't imagine with all the seemingly infinite number of upgrades/accessories, that there isn't a way to mount one to the RKCustom.

Wildwill, I haven't checked that website yet for the tach, but I noticed you mentioned HD of Frederick. I am from VA, but live in MD now. Sounds like the same neck of the woods. Take it easy and as someone once said to me, "Keep the rubber side down and the metal side up!"

I put the HD dual on my 03 Heritage, this Kuryakyn combo would look good if one were to follow that "high tech" theme elsewhere on the bike. As a standalone add-on it might stick out like a sore thumb.

But that's JMHO.

Here's what I did to mine, got rid of the useless windscreen. IMO, the separate tach looks better and is easier to see than the combo unit. It's close to your line of sight, especially when you're gunning it. And, it's about 270 degrees compared to only 180 on the combo.

Thanks for the picture! I really appreciate that. I agree about the look and function. Was it easy to take off the chrome "wind deflector" and did you use the mounting bracket for the Road King FLHR? And does it have a finished appearance from the front w/o the wind deflector?
