Speakers
Connecting a battery across the terminals is a crude test that should give you a "hum" if the speaker still works. Don't hold it on there though. I've used 9V battereies for my 5.1 system in my house when troubleshooting with no ill-effects.
Best way to test is with a digital Volt/Ohm meter. Unhook the leads from the speaker and ohm out the speaker. It will read lower than what its rated and it will show OL if its open. If it ohms out ok set the meter to AC volts and hookup to the speaker leads. Turn the radio on and watch the meter it should show the voltage going up and down at no set voltage. Varying with the music. If theres no ac voltage coming out of the wires switch the meter to dc. If theres dc voltage there. You have radio problems on that channel.
I'm kind of lazy.
I would pull the other speaker and hook it up. If you got music, your original speaker is duff. If you ain't, you either have a wire or output issue from the radio.
