I just had a bad incident this week that could've been a LOT worse.&nbsp\\; After spending a week riding and camping with my son... we're on our way home...&nbsp\\;

about 15 miles from the house, on the Capital Beltway, 1 mile from the Maryland border... when the boy says into the intercom... "Hey Dad, is the tourpak supposed to move?"

Needless to say, I pulled over as quickly as I safely could.&nbsp\\; The tourpak was leaning back a little... looked underneath and found that the main support bar was cracked on both sides all the way through.

It snapped right where the front 2 bolts go through the tourpak.

Thank God we didn't get hurt... hell, if he'd been leaning back, damn.&nbsp\\; Anyway, got the part (53801-98) at the only dealer who had it in stock in MD, VA, and PA (Elkridge HD) for $80.

Just thought you'd want to check your own.&nbsp\\; The dealer said he'd never heard of one breaking in over 30 years in the business.&nbsp\\; I know I've never even considered looking at that part.

I check bolts all the time... just never look at that support bar under the tourpak.&nbsp\\; And, no, I don't overload the tourpak with heavy weight.&nbsp\\; Seriously though, check yours today!
