Totaled?
So, how did it work out? The decision is really up to the individual adjuster. Some times, the repair shop and/or the customer can talk them into going on way or the other. It's more of a negotiation than a set in stone rule type thing.
I crashed my 3 week old 2007 EG Classic in 2006. The damage was figured at over 10K. The bike cost about 19K. The adjuster totaled it out. I was in rough shape at the time, 5 ribs broken in 9 places, banged up spleen and kidney and road rash. I was not in any mood to argue or negotiate. Kinda wish I had.
adj. goes by blue book high retail. dont settle for less. if there is any frame damage then its a total

After extensive repairs are made (new frame from H-D) all work done at H-D dealer....do you end up with a salvage title ? Or is it pronounced good as new and have no effect on future resale ?
It would be salvage title. My '03 Ultra was totaled..over $17k in damage. Needless to say it was considered a total loss by the insurance company, however they gave me the option of keeping the bike and having the dealer complete the work (new frame + parts + labor). Only problem would have been the salvage title. So I took the money they offered me $21k.
NOT TRUE in most cases. Insurance Companies go by "BLACK BOOK" or a third party vendor like CCC. to estimate the value of the vehicle and all most never by KBB or NADA. True some insurance companies will TOTAL the bike if it has frame damage, but not all.
