Not unless the insurance company declares the bike a TOTAL LOSS. If at that time you want the Salvage rights to the bike then it would be a Salvage Title (would NEVER recommend doing it). If the insurance company declares the bike repairable the normal title would continue.

..Ok, I am an adjuster here in Mass. and this is how I do it...first you do an actual field-appraisal on the bike and get an initial repair cost, then you try to project additional hidden damage, and labor cost, then you obtain a salvage value. The Salvage value amount(which can be thousands), is subtracted from the ACV (actual cash value), to determine what exact amount of money "Totals" the bike. ACV is reached by using NADA retail as a STARTING point(I'll say it again, Kelly BB is a JOKE, none of us uses it), then you look for comp. sales on "Cycle-trader" "Want Advertiser" etc. to see what similar bikes sell for, then apply any depreciations for mileage, wear, old damage, or enhancements for low miles, equipment, etc. When it comes to average HD's, I ALWAYS total a bike if it needs a frame...believe me, I can be very creative when i want to total a bike.....hope that helps...but remember, every ins. company has different methods of accomplishing the same thing, and every state has different laws on ins. I only speak for what I do her in Mass.....

I crashed my 06 glide classic last year with 3k on the clock. It ended up being between 11 and 12 k to fix it. The adjuster i was dealing with went on vacation and turned it over to some other people while he was gone and they payed to have it fixed. He wasnt very happy when he got back but it never hurt the frame and didnt have harldy any miles on it cause i was layed up from the heart attack for most of the summer when i bought it so i was happy it was fixed and i didnt loose any money on a settlement. It rides fine and looks fine thats the main thing and its still got the regular title no salvage stuff.
