Oh crap!
Good friend and co-worker went down yesterday afternoon. A lady turned left in front of him. He tried to dodge her but she still clipped the rear end of his bike sending him sliding down the road on his back. He suffered 3 broke ribs, some damage to some vertabre that won't be any trouble , a lotta road rash and a bunch of stitches in his foot. His Road King is toast. He spent the night in the hospital and came home today. He's thinking he'll never get on a bike again.
He loves to ride and had been on some pretty long rides out west and up north. He wanted to get together and ride this weekend but due to previous comittments I couldn't make it. Now it doesn't matter anyway. This sux. Keep your eyes open and expect the unexpected out there folks. Ride safe

Take things slowly and do not expect the ribs to heal fast! I have 4 broken ribs (in addition to losing my spleen) and they are only about 40% healed at this stage of the game. My DR says it will take probably 9 mos for them to fully heal.
Tell your friend that he must get back up on the horse or he will never be 'right' again.
Accidents like this tend to change your view on things...well, it did for me! (went down at 65mph, no helmet but full leathers).

Only he knows if it'll be right for him to get back on. Yes I'm pretty sure she stuck around, I haven't gotten to talk to him personally yet. Thanks for the well wishes I'll pass them on to him as soon as I can talk to him.

Tell him we hope for a fast recovery, as I wrote earlier my wife went down less than two weeks ago, seperated shoulder, broken arm, but doing great and wants a bike of her own. If he loves to ride he will, if he doesnt then that is okay too, just hope he has no regrets
