Default Sharing the road

Today I was leaving town heading home on a 35 mile ride to the house. I always wonder if I will see someone else on a Harley or get the chance to share the road. As I was sitting at a stop before hitting the highway a solo biker on a Road King blew by me. I don't mind riding alone in fact most of the time I do but today I didn't have to. I twisted the throttle and caught up to the guy in front of me. A nod and a wave and we rode all the way to my exit. Passed at least a dozen bikes going the other way all with a wave. As he hit his exit a couple miles before mine we gave each other a peace sign and he split the lane. Don't know the dude and I don't think I've ever seen his bike around before but for a short time this afternoon we burned up some asphalt and split the wind like we were Bros. Just feels good to share the road with someone on the way home.

It happens to me a lot.The choices I have for ways home are many some better than others. All country roads that can be ridden hard if so desired.A good part of the time it is a nice cruise home and often ride with someone else.

Most times I would rather have at least one other person to ride with. Its always safer as the chances are that the old dude driving the 77 Buick will see (or at least hear) you sooner if there are more of you.

Sorry, but I'm not going to fall in with anyone I don't know. I might follow them, but how do I know if they know how to ride?

Nice to ride along with another Harley sometimes.

I'll keep a respectable distance either in front or behind someone I don't know, but unless I know the person and their riding skills I'm not going to ride "with" anyone.

Too many other things to worry about when out on the mean streets.

I am in with OFG on this one. I, too, enjoy others company on the road. But I will shadow them, rather than alongside.
2 reasons:
I do not know their riding level, nor they mine.
I have ONE rear drum brake, so I NEED more stopping distance, WAY MORE, and most ppl follow too close for any comfort on my part, even Momma.

As long as he or she staggers, I don't care. Only good friends that I have rode with forever ride beside me. Two bikes are safer than one as long as it is done safely. People always see two head lights better than one and I know they see mass. When I am in my truck or the big truck they don't tend to pull out in front of me. They still try to stop too fast in front of me but they don't pull out in front of me. When I am on my bike they pull out in front of me like they don't care or don't see me. It's always worse when I ride the wideglide instead of the heritage classic. They don't see the wideglide coming as well as the heritage classic.
