Default Power commander, what is it?

After all I read here I should now this. Is this a fuel management system like the others I hear about? I have stage 1 and want to get better control of my performance. Most of the other systems I hear about in this forum are out of my price range for now. Ebay has one that says will work on my year, but I do not want to just throw money away. What are the pros and cons on this unit and is it pretty straight forward to use? It comes with all that is needed so they say. Any input on this would be helpful.

The PCIII is plug-and-play module that plugs into your existing ECM harness. It has enough flexibility for you to change maps and tweak them to your liking if you wish. If you get one with a good map to begin with (e.g., Fuel Moto) you likely won't have to mess with it at all. The map is very important to how well the bike runs, and depending on where you get it on Ebay you may not have an optimized map when received. Maps from the PC website are generalized, but if the Ebay auction seller is Fuel Moto you're in good shape. Nonetheless, if not, I would consider just buying it from FM directly which will insure a good map. His prices are very good, probably near the lowest you can find anyway.

Tip: If you buy from Fuel Moto, ask for his "mileage map." If not, you may not like the resulting gas mileage. The mileage map does not affect performance at all.

If you don't already have an open AC and slip-ons, consider his Power Package:

Jim, no cons just pros.
Really like my PC111 USB, more power more torque
and no more popping on decel.
I'm getting 40 MPG (not bad)
Installation is real easy, and no changes are made to ECM.
Take the PC111 off and the bike goes back to stock.
Jamie at fuelmoto can pre install a map for your bike and setup.

Fuelmoto web sit says their support if for their customers. I assume thay would not too willing to help out someone who got a PC unit off ebay. I do not know if the seller got it from fuelmoto, it looks the ame as the one on the PC websit and so far the bid is at $56, so if I can get it cheap I just may give it a try.

Same goes for the DFO/TFI except for the more power & torque. It's a "jet kit" for fuel injection. If all you're looking to do is richen your EFI, you can do it for a lot less $$ than a Power Commander.

Ask him where he purchased the PCIII. If he bought it from Fuel Moto, ask him for his invoice number, as when map requests are made this is what you'll need. If this is a used PCIII make sure it fits your year-model bike.
