I just bought a Cyclepump, plug kit and tire gauge kit. Expensive ($157.00), but the quality is supposed to be very good.

Plug kit, air compressor that connects to battery, cell phone, insurance/HOG cards, flashlight, credit cards/cash.

If you can find an old tire or hunk of rubber about the same thickness as your tire, it's a great idea to practice with the plug kit in the peace and quiet of your garage before you have to do it for real on the side of a busy road!

Small tool kit. (Sears Craftsmen red box)

Good small flashlight. (Surefire 6-P w/ extra batteries)
Zip ties
Leatherman or Gurber muilti tool
Flares
Tire repair kit

All of these can fit in to a small tool bag or saddle bag orginizer. put it in a saddle bag and forget it till you need it. You or your riding buddy will be glad you did.
