I'm going to buy an HD premium oil cooler and install it myself. This is for an 08 EGS. Just because I was curious I asked my dealer what they would charge. They said 3 HOURS!!! I couldn't believe it. I questioned him on the time and he said "well, there's oil lines that have to be run and everything". They must be counting on people thinking there's some big mystery to it or somethin'.
Thats funny, 3 hrs? Do it yourself and you will see how easy it is. If you can change an oil filter you can install the cooler. It took me 3 hrs with a 2 1/2 hr lunch (beer) break.

I installed one on my 07 RG. It took me 2 hours and I was taking my time since I've never done it before. I actually spent more time trying to figure out the PITA directions then I did wrenching.
If I were you, I would call around to some other dealers and get a quote from them. 3 hours seems like too long.

Both coolers work good. I don't see that much performance difference between the jagg and HDs so for me it came down to the looks and HDs cooler looks much better than the jagg. I am very happy with it.

It took me maybe one hour, plus another 30 min. to hunt down a 7/16" Allen socket to install the filter adapter. Find the Allen socket ahead of time and it's a piece of cake, but it's an oddball size and you likely won't find it easily. A substitute for the Allen socket might be a long 7/16" bolt with two jam nuts installed. That will fit inside the funky filter bolt in lieu of the Allen socket, then use a 7/16" hex socket to torque the bolt. Also, a 7/16" OD threaded coupler would also work, but I haven't been able to find one of these locally.
Unless you're hung-up on maximizing bling, you could leave off the chrome cover. IMO it helps with cooling at idle by allowing more air to move by convection.
