Question Bluetooth on a bagger

Anyone using the bluetooth on a bagger? I'm wondering if I can hook the zumo 550 up to the stereo via the Harley BLuetooth setup. I would like to access the satelite radio via bluetooth instead of hardwire and the mp3 recordings on the memory card.

if the Zumo and the Harley bluetooth supports the AD2P streaming bluetooth you should be fine.

J&M makes a setup to completely integrate your Zumo 550 into the Harley radio. Link below.

The Zumo will not support XM through Bluetooth, so at the least you will have to connect a cord from the Zumo to the Aux port of your radio. The Zumo's bluethooth does support MP3 but not in stereo.

If it's anything like the 07's, 'bout 3 hours total time. Ya spend more time double-checkin' instructions than anything else.<G>

I have a Zumo 550.
You can plug a wire from the Z audio out 3.5mm jack to the front HD radio aux input. I personally did the AUX in the back of the HD radio modification. The audio out wire will give you stereo music via MP3's, GPS audio directions and bluetooth audio from the Z. It should also work with the XM option.
I also plugged a wire into the Mike out 2.5mm jack from the Z into a "interface" that plugs into the the headset wiring harness. The "interface" was inexpensive and easy to do. I can use the HD console headset for audio, CB and bluetooth calls.

This is what I learned but don't take it for gospel...

You will need the HD/HK Bluetooth kit as well as PN 70164-06 Wire harness overlay (approx $90). I believe it is also reccomended to keep your cell phone in your saddlebag.

I found this on another forum.

"Harley has discontinued the HD/HK Bluetooth module. They did an omission on the new year and you can not order the old ones. I ordered mine about 6 weeks ago and wondered why it took so long. When I went to the store and found out. They in turn jumped on their computer system and found out which dealers in the US had them in stock and contacted them.

When I was at the dealership today I was talking about it being discontinued; and they said that there was a different company that was going to making them to go on the Harley's."

Hope this helps.

Thanks Merlin. I didn't realize their was a aux jack in the back of the radio. That is great as I didn't want a wire running into the front of the radio because of water concerns. I seem to get caught in the rain a lot.

Sounds like the JM kit would be the simple fix to do what I need to do. I am assuming based on Merlin's comments that all the wire will run down the handlbar and into the fairing and hook up to harness inside there as well as to the back of the radio.

I sure appreciate all the information folks! Thanks.

There is a modification to the HD radio to add an AUX jack to the back of the radio. I will supply the link if you would like.

The "interface" I am using is not a J&M product. I do not know anything about the J&M wiring harness.
