Default Oil Filter ?

Does anyone have a favorite oil filter? The only one I have used is the chrome HD ( $15.00 a pop) but am wondering if there is another one that is maybe better and less $$'s. I have seen K&N but haven't inquired about them... Just in the habit of getting HD I guess.

I got some coming with my order from Zanotti. I have always used the chrome but this time I ordered the black about half price of the chrome.

I would stay stick with the ones from HD, they are a good filter. The K&N's are a good filter also. Go with what's easiest to get.

A couple of responses re. Zanotti . Do either of you guys have an address for them? Six dollars is a whole lot better than $15.00. I wouldn't even be asking if I got em' for that price.
Thanks !!

I use the chrome K&N 171C, have used that and HD chrome filter. Both are good. I use the K&N as I can get it here in Canada cheaper than HD and all I need to spin it off is a 17mm wrench.

I bought one of these filters from K&P Engineering. Only thing is you're looking for something cheap.......and they aren't cheap, but they're sure a lot better for your engine. If you wanna cheap-out on stuff, you're gonna run into problems that cost you a lot more later on.

I use the chrome K&N-171C filters, usually a 4 pack off of Ebay and cost works out to about $16/ea. I wasn't too jazzed with the last OEM filter I got, especially after comparing it to the K&N. Oh, and that 17mm nut on the top of the filter comes in real handy too.
