I had mine coated, they didn't coat where the grips go and the mounting spots, but ya never see any of that, just don't want no problems

Had two sets powder coated and one set painted. Don't want coating where the grips & clamps go but even if they do a razor blade will make short work of getting it off.

Prep them good if you are the one doing the coating. It only sticks as good as the prep work. Remove the chrome with a media blaster and as said, mark where the clamps sit on the bars before removing the parts. Then measure how far that is from the end of the bars. Then don;t spray the coating much over that line.

If your bars have two knurled areas where the riser clamps on be sure to mask that off! If not, the riser clamp may not grip onto the bars good enough and you'll find yourself with loose bars while tooling down the road... not good.

Prices vary by location so I'd suggest you check out some local powder coat shops. Start by talking to your dealer and as many indy shops as you can to see who they recommend.

Can you buff out scratches when your bars are powercoated?
