Unhappy stupid move, engine light on, what to do??

Installed Wild 1's on 08 RKC.......it is a great looking quality bar and not knocking the product at all, but I struggled getting all the wires pulled through (including the Namz 4" extensions) and might have pulled one too many times.

Bike starts but......
> will throttle up very slowly, not crisp
> yellow engine light on
> cruise light when switch turned to on position, does not come on (can't remember, does it only come on if bike is rolling?)

Could it be the TBW just needs to be reset since it was off and reinstalled? I am about ready to see if I can buy new switches/wiring for controls from dealer and put on Heritage bars to try and put it all back to "original." Looking on-line, not even sure my model is available as it is not listed.

Check codes? How?

Trailer to dealer and pay $$$$$ to fix my F-up? Hope not, but looking like a real possibility!

Not a happy camper in Indy! (I guess since it is cold/rainy/snowy it could be worse.....have time!)

Cruise light is on when the switch is on... You have a pinched wire or a bare one or it's just not wired right. Did you get the throttle grip back on right ? (in the end of the bar where it has the TBW sensor) it has to line up right or it wont work properly. Good luck.

> pretty sure, fit in bar end snug and slots fit in, new grip went on OK

It sounds like it's in limp mode do to a problem with the Throttle Grip Sensor. Check for Trouble Codes to confirm.

I don't have cruise on my '07 RKC, but ran into the same thing when I put new bars on myself. I pinched my turn signal wires at the switch housing which blew the a fuse. I went through several 15 amp fuses before finding that out. The symptoms were the same though. Bike would start and run but the engine light was on and my signals as well as a few other components stopped working. First check your fuses under the left side panel and then do some wiggling of the wires. Good luck.

Checked fuses (damn.....knew that would be too easy) and all are OK.

Got a lot of P codes.....
PO131 Frt oxygen sensor low
PO151 Rear oxygen sensor low
P1510 EFI Limited Performance Mode (limp!?)
P2127 TGS2 Low/Open
P2128 TGS2 High

I am thinking the P1510 is the culprit, but if so, now what? The other 4 codes could be from the dealer doing the SE1 when I bought it or maybe because I run Xieds?

Thanks guys! Keep the help coming.

Sure looks like the Throttle Grip Sensor is the culprit and where you should start looking. The TGS is easily damaged by removing and reinstalling. When you removed it did you disconnect the little green connector by chance? It is also easily damaged. I would also check the TGS connector at the far end where it connects into the wiring harness to make sure all the pins are fully seated and in the correct locations.

Bert,

I sure did pull the little green one apart. Pins looked OK but the clip was boogered so I put back in and a little electrical tape to keep snug. No way for me to tell though if it fully "held."

I bought but did not use the replacement TPS kit HD says you have to have when changing bars. It does not have the clip. However on the factory job there are two wires from the middle, run about 6" and capped off. On the replacement there is the same two wires but they run the length and have the duetsch (sp?) clips. I did not use the replacement since I read on here it wasn't really neccessary to change AND I had no idea what to do with the extra leads. Maybe I should put the replacement in but I would still be confused on those two extra leads out of the middle?
