Break Time?
Backrest, bars, floorboards, and highway bars...Once you've got the right ones, you can easily go your hour and a half. I too am kind of a tank to tank guy, but most of the guys I ride with are lookin' to stop in about 90 minutes as well. Solo, it's tank to tank fill ups, and cover the highway.... Last long trip was from Rapid City, SD, to Florence, MT in one day. That's about 728 miles on the two laners we took. So you can easily do your 400 miler in 8-9 hours with breaks, food, and gas stops. Enjoy.
Trust me the bladder of the OL is the stop sign on the road to freedom. We bought a Sundowner seat when we made the deal and also a backrest for her. So the seat shouldn't be an issue, it's just her bladder and my back that will decide the frequency. I think we're gonna try to catch a nice day and try to put a couple hundred miles on it to see how we do. Late November weather may not cooperate too much with us though.
I thought it was a rule, you couldn't pee on de man.
Ohh it's not the temperatures that hold us back it's the rain. Here in Memphis if it starts raining it will rain for at least three days. That coupled with the expert drivers in the metro area leads to bad situations. We got out Sunday and the high was only 45. I was just hoping for a rain free weekend to stretch her legs out a little.
Of course you're the only one that can answer your question, but it sounds like you won't have much problem adding 15 minutes to your saddle time. If you think about it you did pretty well on the trip you described. I use the 50 mph average method for planning trips whether they're in a car or on a bike. Your trip was right on that figure. It's only for planning since you can do better at interstate speeds, but worse on city streets & figuring rest/gas/food/sightseeing stops. The more comfortable bike will extend your saddle time, but it won't do much for road or traffic conditions.

A buddy and I did 16 hours in the saddle only stop to fill up and only long enough to fill up. And it was no problem at all. Him a 07 ultra me a 96 standard. I have also done 16 hours on a honda shadow and could not even move the next morning and my standard I could go longer.
Make your first stop a gas stop and from then you can taper off to shorter stops, you'll be surprised, you can get that first 200 miles behind you quick, then you can go at it a little easier. Take that with a grain of salt cause its coming from a guy who's stops are always, always, always dictated by his wife's bladder and she definately ain't got no 200 mile bladder.
