street glide rear shocks??
#11
i removed the stock shocks from the rear of my 08 streetglide and replaced them with a pair from an 09 roadglide. it gave me an additional inch of travel, and it feels much more comfortable. no more do i get nervous crossing railroad tracks at a crossing. a lot of guys have lowered their electaglides by using the shorter streetglide shocks. they're easy to swap out.

Try them out than you will know the truth. You do not know what you are talking about when you do not know without experiencing the ride.

Salty,
You are correct. The stock Street Glide air shocks (12 inch) are dogshit.
I found myself in a similar situation as yourself, and didn't know what to buy for a replacement. Getting opinions on replacement shocks is kinda like getting an opinion what kind of seat to buy. It's very subjective, and everyone has their own idea of what is best.
Progressives are the best...no, Ricors are better...no wait, Ohlins are superior...oh hell, just buy a set of 13" EG air shocks. See what I mean? Very confusing to say the least.
You're either going to have to take a leap of faith and just buy something, or better yet, ride a friend's bike that has an alternate suspension setup.
Since I didn't know what to buy, I jumped in and bought a set of Progressive 440's (13", regular spring), since I normally ride solo. I also put some Race Tech springs and emulators in the front shocks. While the ride is definitely better than stock, I was really hoping for a much more improved ride, considering the money I spent.
I may try the Ricors (front and rear) the next time I feel like dumping another grand into my SG, or maybe I'll just sell the 440's, and try the 940's. At any rate, good luck with your decision.

Howard, I am perfectly happy with my ride now that I have 13" eglide shocks. For ME, spending another $500 to fix something that I now have no problems with is a foolish waste of my hard earned dollars. Like I said, I am sure your expensive Ohlins shocks are better, but not cost effective for ME on my SG. Now, as for my Buell 1125...that's a whole 'nother story, definately consider them for it!
