Default Home made fork tube holder...

This is another alternative to making your own fork tube holder, the HD tool will cost you about $65.00. You can figure the cost out of the home made version yourself.

When I installed new springs and chrome lowers on my FXST I simply loosened the pinch bolt and slid the tube down a few inches and re tightened the pich bolt on the lower tree. Then losened the plug. It did not scar the tube at all. The top fork tube plug didn't seem very tight either. I replaced the o-ring on the plug when I re installed and used the same method for tightening. The lower slider install was done on the ground off the bike.

That's a good idea but how do you check the proper amount of fluid in the fork tube later if the fork is tilted at such an angle.

Hey, my fork tube holder! If you wanna make one, use 1 1/4" 6061-T6 angle, 11" long, break sharp corners. Line the jaws with .0625 thk. neoprene, roughen the jaws and the rubber to give some tooth, tack cloth everything real good, then bond w/ Pliobond industrial cement and clamp all bonded surfaces overnight. It works GREAT (read the feedback).

I worried over a fork tube holder for months and tried a number of contraptions before this modern marvel. My buddy at JH CHoppers let me use his heated shop to do my lowers and freaked out when he saw how well it worked. He made me give him the first one as "rent". Works to hold exhaust work too like welding bungs onto headers. If you want me to make you one, PM me and I'll send you one for 30 bucks plus shipping with PAYPAL.

Could someone PLEASE give me a light?
