Scraping floorboards on 09 SG
#22
My '93 E-glide had a great lean angle. My '06 Ultra... crap! I drag all the time. I had the lights under the floorbords...yeah right, like those were going to last. I got a pic of me down on The Dragon... sparks flying out from the bottom of the bike. I dont try to get over that far. I even roll my foot over the edge of the floorboard so it acts a little like a curb feeler.
The worst time I ever had was going up through Loch Raven resevoir. It was my first time and I was following my buddy up a series of tight turns. I was not hauling butt. I came around a left turn that went right into a tight right turn. I got my line screwed up because of a kid on a bike. When I put my bike over for the turn I was way out of position. I had to push the bike so hard to the right I unweighted my rear tire. The bike went so far over that my highway peg mounted up on the crashbar drug the road. I did not loose the bike. I did loose my bowls!

I can't do it. I got use to scraping my floorboards on a few tight turns with my 02 RKC, but I'm not doing it on my 09 SG. I was kind of worried about this since the SG is an inch lower, but it is no problem.
The more I ride my new SG, the more I really like the way these 09s handle.

If you ain't scrapin' you ain't ridin". I scrape all the time. You don't have to go fast to scrape. In fact, take a look at the ride like a pro videos. Learn how to put the bike down on the boards safely and slowly. Then you won't freak out in the high speed sweepers when you do scrape.
BTW, that you tube video shows some impressive riding if you're on a track, but on the street that's death waiting to happen. You don't shoot the apex like that on the street. Read David Hugh's works and you'll learn how to stay alive. Those guys are way outside there stopping capability and sight distance.
