Default dyno # on my build

I dropped of my 09 street glide at the shop on friday morning. I am having a 103 kit built, My cylinders bored out, s&s 585 gear driven cams, My heads massaged. My base line was 74 hp with 82 torque. The bike only has 125 miles on it, so its still really tight. I just got a call from the shop and with a fat tune for break in and a very soft pull on the dyno. He said it got 100 hp and 110 for torque. Cant wait to go get it. Im heading for leesburg on thursday, should be fun. Hopefully it will be enough but I doubt it.

Read the "truth in dyno" thread. Everything is relative.

BTW i would be pi$$ed if my engine builder pulled 100hp out of a 103 motor with 0 miles. Sounds like full throttle to me. But I am old fashioned and like to run things in.

He said he didnt do a full pull on it, and that he didnt want to beat on it. They put about 75 miles on it with it on the dyno, and few more with test ride.

He has this same set up in his 07 ultra and hes getting 118/118

75 miles on the dyno? Man how much did they charge ya for that dyno tune? Did they run the rpm up through the gears and set the cruise at 75 and walk away for an hour? New motor, not full pull, 75 miles would take quite awhile.......sounds fishy to me..........Been my experience that most decent dyno tunes take at least 2 hours, more if its a tune that adjust throttle positions @ 5 or 10% increments at different loads. Heck as long as ya get a good build and good tune, and you are happy, thats half the battle!

Mine was broke in the same way with the 103 kit. The builder ran it at 75mph and adjusted the drag on the dyno to get different rpms. He said there is not much throttle position adjustment needed with the zippers. I got it with 80 miles on it and he told me to ride it like I normally would. He did a soft pull and I ended up with 105hp and 115 torque. I am very happy.
