Default Intercom Volume

I have the Scala Q2 Bluetooth headsets that my wife and I use for intercom. I also have a set of the Harley wired system. When driving long distances we both wear earplugs and neither of these systems have enough volume. At highway speeds, I have to shout and almost eat the mic and if there is a lot of wind, it gets very frustrating.

Anyone have any suggestions on mods to either of these that would boost the volume or perhaps an inline amplifier that could do the job?

on my 09 ultra, you can adjust the volume for the rider and passenger. you go in to the intercom mode and then use the volume + button on the handle bar for the front volume and the passenger volume + button for the rear volume. it shows the volumn on the radio screen as if you were turning the radio volume up.
