Default Radio -- intercom question (Ultra)

Okay, so I don't use the intercom on my Ultra often, but I thought that when the mic keyed to talk to the passenger (on voice activation mode (VOX)), the radio volume in the headset cut back. My driver's mic does not cause the radio sound to diminish in the passenger headset, so I'm fighting against the volume of whatever is playing over the system. Am I wrong in thinking it is to work this way?

BTW, it DOES cut back in volumen when talking -- and listening -- on the CB. So I was just thinking it would work with this setting as well.

Your thoughts / input is appreciated.... Maybe I'm overlooking something in adjusting all the options together.

It should. The VOX setting level is important to have set correctly. Also make sure the speaker routing switch on the narcel is set to the correct position. My wife and I on our 07 Ultra talk back and forth all the time and the music or CB signal always stops during the conversation.

Could be wrong about this but I seem to recall....

The radio VOX will only work if the speaker toggle switch is set to headset only. The toggle has 3 positions - speakers, Speakers and Headset, Headset

Haven't read manual for a while though so could be wrong

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I've got the VOX sensitivity set appropriately, and also the volume on the headsets so, without the radio or competing background sound, we can hear each other. Then I add the radio or CD and it does not cut back to hear the other person clearly. Hmmm..., will continue to test and try various settings.

Also, I've got it set to run all sound through the headsets only. So I am assuming that it should work as you have indicated...

I set mine to have the music through the fairing speakers. The CB through the headset. This is when my wife is one her bike and I am on mine. When we ride two-up I use the same set up. When we are on separate bikes I turn the intercom off so I can sing along to the Goldie oldies and the VOX won't interferer. Good luck.

yeah, somethings wrong. when the intercomm VOX breaks it cuts out the radio/CD or MP3/Navi (on aux setting) sound so you can clearly hear your partner with no background music/sound

Yes you have a problem. Been fighting the same thing on my wife's bike for over a year now. Dealer has been great, HD sucks. They don't want to authorize installing a new radio. Well, tomorrow, the regional service rep for the MOCO will be at the dealership. AND SO WILL I. Plus, the predecessor to the boom adio head set is a piece of crap. Had three go bad but they have been replaced with the boom headset. so far so good. Now for the radio.
