Champion RA8HC plugs are just fine & a lot cheaper than anything with H.D. stamped on it. The screw you're talkin' about is called a "throttle lock" or "throttle drag" screw. Before you grab one & screw it down tight take a look in the throttle housing. There should be a piece of spring steel that screw forces against the twist grip. Without that spring steel the screw will damage the grip. If you just lost the screw out of a bike you got new it's probably still there. If you're fixin' up a used bike the spring steel may be gone.

You don't need the gold plug since the orig HD plugs outperform them. In prior threads on spark plugs someone said the Champion makes HD plugs. I tried the colder autolite plugs and my SERT didn't like them. My friend's engine light started coming on his 07 and the service manager blamed it on autolights.

OK to use whatever brand as long as it is the correct application and heat range

Seriously, lots of guys just run the Autolite plugs from the local auto parts store and they run just as good.
I've been running Autolite 4163 plugs, which are one step colder than stock (stock = 4164). These work fine even with the knock-sensor and cost about $1.50 each. Also, my engine light has never turned on for any reason, even after installing the first set of Autolites about two years ago.

Just means More towards CHROME! But seriously...HD just brands others stuff. Save the money and use it more constructively! It's because we spend so much on our bikes that alot of people do pinch pennies! So quit being a brand snob!

Now...on the serious side...this forum member asked a serious question and didn't deserve a brash and more then not arrogant answer! The member is new here and deserves answers that are straight and to the point!

just wanted to make sure I clarified. I just didn't know if it was a throttle lock or CC. So no worries thank you for the concern but I hate CC & I never use it on my bike! thank you though.

Default thanks

Tahnks every1 for the mostly kind replies. lol. To answer the Q about the $2.00 plugs I do not know. My dad got them from napa or autzone I believe I don't know which brand but he's been running them for a month now and no issues starts right up and works great. I don't like going cheap with my bike just lost my job of only $8.50 an hour and my 1989FLHS is an expensive girl. lol. Thank all of you guys so much for the fast and in depth responses!!!! I really appreciate it. I thought it was the throttle lock but I don't like to be too sure of myself and make a mistake or mistitle something out of arrogence. lol.

Thanks once again every1

If it's a small **** that you turn...more than likely it's a throttle lock!

Welcome to the forum and please ask away! We're all here to help!
