Default Rear wheel alignment?

OK I got one for you guys. I just installed a 160 E3 on my 08 SG and I marked both cams and weld nubs with a white paint pen before I took off stock wheel, but when I re-installed I can't get both marks to line up. The left cam is welded to the nut and the right side only fits on the axle one way. The marks are about a 3/8" off on one side! What is up with that? Shouldn't I be able to get the marks where they were from the factory? Do the cams on both side line up and move together?

Just put new tires on mine about 2 weeks ago. Had no problem lining both cams up in the same spot as it was from the factory. I did the same as you, marked both cams at the welds before removing. Sounds like you got other problems. One thing you might try.......loosen the axle nut a little and rotate the axle so the cams are "loose". Snug the axle nut just till it's slightly snug. Take a ballpeen hammer and tap the right side cam (since the left side is welded in place) until it lines up correctly. There is very little slop in the cam slot so it should be pretty close.

3/8 of rotation? Or 3/8 fore and aft?
In either case - is the tire hitting somewhere and the axle is cocked?

No the tire and alignment look fine, it just is if I line up the left cam mark the right is off a hair, and vice versa. I don't know maybe I was drunk when I marked it???? The tire and wheel are straight and true just can't get the cams perfectly lined up on both sides with marks I made.

Sounds like you have the right side cam on backwards, try turning over, or you aren't back of the weld nub on both sides of the swing arm. With the axle so that the flat on the threaded end is topside, with the thumb down and the cam forward, install the adjuster cam on end of axle.

I marked a white paint pen line on the cam and weld nub on both sides before I took axle out. Now I can't seem to get marks perfectly lined up on both sides-one will be a hair off.

Nope cam was marked before and only goes on one way.

When I did mine I marked the left side only. I figured the right side had to follow the left..........

Even if there isn't any (noticeable) slop in the cam to axle fitment, it can vary by a "hair". To test - loosen the nut just enough to turn the axle in the opposite direction and tighten. Does the variance reverse? If so there's your answer.
If not - is it possible the paint dried and is moving?

Is it possible it is because I am not holding left nut while tighten right? I don't know. Maybe I should just go by the right side mark- the left welded side should follow?
