The Clutch

Like bamorris said, if your clutch slips you will loose power to the rear wheel, but your motor will rev. It will feel the same way it would feel if you were twisting the throttle to accelerate at the same time you were pulling the clutch lever halfway in.
Another way to describe it would be it would seem like the back wheel broke loose from the paving and was spinning, but the slip would be in the clutch, not the tire spinning.

The local harley dealer lastnite sponsor some shin dig in the parking lot at one of our local bars and their was some motorcycle shop vendor their promoting dyno jet run competitions for different classes tommorrow and we got to talking and the guy mentioned something about clutches and i asked him to ride my bike which he did and when he came back he said it was too soft. I remember another mechanic mentioning to me one day that he didn't understand why folks would get engine work on their bikes meaning upgrades but never bother with the stock clutch and change it also but to me i thought he was just selling BS because i never heard this mentioned before by any other mechanic.
