Default Handlebar pullback?

I'm kind of confused by the numbers I'm seeing for handlebar dimensions. According to one site, the pullback on my stock handlbars is 11". The pullback for apes (any size) is 12". That's only +1". With the stock bars I am hunched over and leaning forward. Every time I see a picture of someone using apes they seem leaned back and comfortable. What am I missing?

I plan to. I just don't see how the numbers work out. They have to be measuring something differently with each set of bars.

I tried the HD 10 1/2" Mini Apes on my '07 Fat Boy and they would not pull back worth a damn. The more I pulled them back, they only got lower, not anymore back.

Just keep looking until you find one that says it has a lot more pullback than stock.
I too tried to measure several bars and never did come up with anybodies numbers. LOL

I found the same thing with some measurements. The Harley stock chart seems to be wrong in some areas, could just be me. I've got the Wild 1 518's and they measure exactly as advertised.

Hope this helps,

With the 508's and the 518's, do you have to change the cables and use the wire extension? Those 508's look nice as well.

I am currently putting new Road King High bars on my Road King. They are a couple of inches higher and about an in more pull back. I haven't finished the install yet, HD says needs wire ext. only, I found brake line needs to be longer. They feel very comfortable, as they get higher your shoulders move farther back.

All I did with the 508's was lengthen my wires a bit, steel braided looks better, but what the heck , after this pic I did bend the brake line a lot better

I have a 07 RKC with a mustang solo and a backrest. For me, the RK custom bars were perfect,,,yes, CUSTOM bars. this gave me 2" more pullback.
