Timkin question
I assume you are talking about cam bearings? If so, there really shouldn't be much labor (if any) involved while the cam chest is apart. Like FLHTCU said, it's never a bad idea to change the bearings, especially given the minimal cost.
Torrington B-168's is what you'll need for inner cam bearings if this is what you're referencing. Easy peasy with the right tool and I'd suggest it as well. I changed mine!

Timken Conversion?
That would require you to split the cases. You have an 08 so there is no reason you need to split the cases to make 103, unless you want to do the timken. And if you are going with the dealer installed SE setup, there is a good chance you wont make enough power to have to worry about it.
If doing a build where you need to split the cases anyway, to bore cases and swap cranks. I would do it without hesitation.
