WI H.O.G. Rally - can't look at the bikes!!!
This is really bizzarre. I am up at the State of Wisconsin HOG rally in Green Bay today with about an hour to kill around high noon (and yes I am a registered paying member).
So I decide to look at the thousands of bikes in the parking lot - you know, just walk around and check out the scoots - like lots of the other HOG members are doing. Plain fun.
The lot is outdoors - about the size of a football field - and "roped off" with yellow tape. No orange fence. Many people are just walking around doin' exactly what I'm doin'.
Out of the blue, some semi-retarded, TSA type security gaurd comes up to me and says I can't just "walk around". So I tell her my bike was on the other side of the lot - could I at least get my bike???
Well she watched me for a few minutes and then got another couple of her cohorts and they literally followed me around the parking lot.
When they finally realized I was walking in a circle, they stopped me and gave me a personal escort directly to my scooter and asked me to leave the premises.
Trust me, I look more like your clean cut pastor than a typical Harley guy - yet they singled me out and were on my a$$ for some unknown freakin' reason.
I got pissed off and told them I've been a HOG member for years, have $30M invested in my ride and you twerps are telling me I can't just walk around the lot and look around???
So their supervisor comes over and tells me those are the rules fella. You gotta go now. What about the dozens of others doin' that same thing??? No reply.
I just may quit HOG after this experience - what a joke. They even stood outside the porta potty as I took a pi$$ before my farewell. UFB.

RE: WI H.O.G. Rally - can't look at the bikes!!!
You said that you were at the State HOG Rally? These are paid venues and require an arm band in most cases. If you did not pay an entrance fee for the rally, you would not be allowed to join the actvities, which might or might not include a closed, roped off parking lot. Obviously that was the case here.
We are getting ready to attend the State HOG Rally in Idaho, and the National HOG Rally in Billings, Mt. Both of these rallys required the purchase of a pre-paid registeration.
Regards,
Bill

I was fully paid with wrist bands for the three day weekend.
"NO ONE IS SUPPOSE TO LOITER IN THE PARKING LOT AREA" - that is BS.
I've decided to blow off the whole weekend and just go riding instead.
Last year I went to the rally in Manitowoc, WI and it was GREAT!!!! Got to look at all the scoots.
I think the casino location this year may be the cause for the "heightened" security.
But at least they should let HOG/paid registered members walk around the lot.
I am going to file a "complaint" at the next chapter meeting anyhow - pretty rude policy IMHO.

If you had on an arm band and had paid for the rally, there is no reason for not being allowed in the parking area. You said that a lot of other HOG members were in the parking lot looking at bikes. Did they not get hassled? I have never been to a HOG function that had restrictions as long as you had on an arm band.
I would certainly take the matter up with the State HOG Committee if you were singled out and treated differently than other HOG members with arm bands.
Regards,
Bill

Secured parking. From what I read, a lot of bikes (or parts off bikes) are stolen at rallys. I'm sure you are innocent, just looking around, but others may not be. I know it seems like BS, but if your bike had been stolen or something was missing it's possible your thread could have read...lazy, do nothing, BS security morons.

at least they let you take a wizz.
I don't like being singled out either, sad fact as Homeland Security becomes more of the rule than exception. I'm convinced that as this trend continues the lesser informed Security folk will enforce beyond their authority and or understanding.
A sad state of affairs, when the cost for peace and security comes only with the loss of personal freedom.
let us know what your word/letter to HOG yields.
