Default used part prices?

When you are looking for used parts that are in good shape what do you think is fair for price? Half? I just bought a detachable tour pak with all hardware, the nice backpad, the large luggage rack on top etc; New it looks like 1300.00 new so I paid 600.00, everything in great shape. Whats you idea of a fair price?

Depends on condition and demand. Generally I'll sell almost perfect stuff that I've picked up for 35 to 40% of new but 50% is good too - especially if you want the item.

Half or less than half is what I am looking for as a buyer.

I always figured that half was a good starting point, depending on condition, and rarity of the part. Some parts I would post at 75% if its something in high demand and difficult to get, but thats only if its in top notch condition.

As always, value is equal to what someone else is willing to pay for an item

It really comes down to one thing. How bad do you want it.

Certain items, especially painted ones are worth more to the buyer if they are painted the correct color to match. If you have to have them painted to match the item will be worth more to some that it does match and less to you do to the extra cost of painting.

I have bought and sold alot of parts in the past. One thing is that the touring stuff always goes higher than Softail items. I guess more of them now than in the past. But, it depends on the item, and how many used are available.

If I really want it, I may pay full price or a little more, depending on how hard the item is to find (how many people have paid over MSRP for their Harley?)

If I don't want it, I won't pay anything for something that the seller may want to sell.

Usually I'm in the middle...I want something, but can wait for the best deal. In that case, I'm looking at 50% or more off of the new price.
