Cut down stock. Only thing I was out is a few minutes of my time. I have seen a few scoots with the rubber ones and even a few with the cellular clones. I like mine just fine.

do you need to take the hard bags off to unscrew the antenna? or do you just twist the black base? or is it the silver nut under the antenna?

There are two...one holds the wire at the top.. the other is low below the spring..lossen comes right off!!

Went to Radio Shack and bought a flexible stubby for $5. Works great, looks cool and no reception problem.

www.eglidegoodies.com has some really nice ones from about 35 bucks or so.

I used the hidden electronically amplified antenna on my old 2000 RG without any problems. My current RG has the "FUBA" style antenna mounted on some custom billet filler strips between the back fender and the sadddlebag. It works great and looks great. I get a lot of complements on it. You can find these antennas at most larger car stereo shop. I have a wholesale place I use. Cost me $25. Zook
