I have a roadking..loved the "harley look" as your wife stated. that's why my wife demanded that I get a road king...plus she said I didn't need tunes! (yes I listened to her, she let us spend the money to get it lol).

Well since she now has her own Heritage, I added an aftermarket fairing with radio. love the way the bike rides with the fairing and the tunes are awesome. but in 5 minutes I can also remove the fairing, have the windshield, no shield, etc.

I have had a Ultra and now a Road Glide and have ridden a few Road Kings. The Road Glide is the best for a touring bike and it is easy to change the windshield to a shorter one for warmer temps and pull the lowers off. But I leave my lowers on year round. Plus the Road Glide handles the best of the 3 and you have a stereo.

There is nothing better than the view of the road behind a Big Chrome Headlight. Besides, I always wear a FF helmet, and the MP3 player works great for tunes.

I had a 99 roadking that I rode for 10 years before moving on to an 08 Street Glide. I prefer the SG over the king for a couple of reasons. I never quite liked the look of the regular windshield on the king but you could take it off if you wanted to and it looked good but no protection. I don't think I took it off more than a couple of times since I don't like getting hit by bugs and debris.
Fairing on SG has gauges and radio which I really like and the same with the Road Glide. I dont especially like the RG fairing looks which is why I went with the SG. You can keep the stock windshield on or get a larger one for the sg/rg bikes so heat and air will not really make that much of a difference. It's not like your in an inclosed space so that's not a factor.
Probably the EG is the best value for a bike in the harley line.
Bottom line, go with what you like the best. You have to ride it and don't quibble about a couple of hundred bucks here or there.

I love my RK because I can use a windshield, fairing or nothing.
I only use the fairing or nothing, honestly the windshield is a piece of crap, causes more problems than it cures.

I've had two geiser glides. FLHTC & now an FLHT. The Road Glide will be my 14th scooter due to it being able to handle cross winds better (doesn't redirect your forks). As for the Road King in my opinion a good looking scooter, but it's am Electra Glide they gave a cool monicer to and pulled parts off and then charge more for. Harley marketing people are sharp cats.

Currently have the Road King. But I now have the detachable fairing to give it that Geezer Glide feel and ride. But the options are limitless with a Road King. If you go with a fixed fairing unit, you're stuck with it if you change your mind in 60 months. Road King gives the most options if you're not sure exactly what you want. Plus I can pull the fairing, add a windshield or pull them both and ride without anything. Your call.

I prefer the EGC or Ultra. Shorty windshields work great in warm weather. My lowers normally stay on during the summer, because of all the rain we get here in the summers.

I usually keep my Ultra stipped down, and the ride without that extra weight changes the characteristics completely as far as handling. The biggest improvement in handling, were the E3 tires. If you havent tried em, yer missing out :-)
