I had Rush with the 2" baffles on my 06 Heritage!! I now have V&H on the Glide!! My take>>>>>>>>>> Rush were more raw! Sounded great at idle, ! The V&H have way more bass at idle, and are not as loud at acceleration! Cruising the Rush were louder!! Just overall a louder, rougher pipe!

Running the 2" baffles in my Rush slip-ons......
good quality chrome and good deep rumble, and it
really barks when you snap the throttle.
Just under 25k miles with no complaints.......

I've had Rush with both standard 1.75" and Fuel Moto dyno-tuned baffles, old-style Jackpot with 1.75" baffles, and new-style Jackpot with both standard and quiet baffle on my '07. Of this group I would recommend the Jackpot currently available with standard or quiet baffle, which one depending on the sound level you prefer. Personally, I like the quiet baffles.

The Rush discolored a bit after about one year and the baffling material needed replacement sooner than that. The current Jackpots have an internal heat shield to protect against discoloration, chrome and construction are excellent quality, Silent Sport packing material is guaranteed for life, have an excellent tone, and performance is guaranteed by FM to be the best available using stock head pipes.

I have Rush slash up w/2 inch baffles, SE intake and SERT. I LOVE these pipes, excellent quality all the way around. No problems and great sound.

I'm currently running the Rush mufflers with the FM dyno-tuned baffles. Did you notice a difference in performance and sound with the new style Jackpots with standard and quiet baffles? I need something a little quieter w/o sacrificing too much performance.

No, I don't think the mufflers themselves have as much an effect on performance as the baffle design (symmetrical std. vs. improved asymmetrical dyno-tuned type). The old-style Jackpots used the same baffles as Rush, and thus had similar sound and performance. The new-style Jackpots have a different sound, deeper and more throaty compared to the others with the FM baffles--but I can't say there's a performance improvement based on my butt dyno going from Rush w/FM baffles to Jackpot.

Where I noticed a performance improvement was when I moved to the FM baffles for the Rush mufflers. Noticeably better with a sound that more resembled a 2-into-1, and with the Silent Sport packing material the tone was much better. The Rush with standard 1.75" baffles had a raspy bark at roll-on that I never liked, and that disappeared with the FM baffles both in the Rush and Jackpot mufflers.

If performance is a priority I wouldn't upgrade to the new Jackpots, but they are better-made with better chrome than the old style and IMO sound better. When the packing settles on these quiet baffles I think I will be very happy with this setup, and they look great with the black tips! I'm not big on bling and spend relatively little on it, but this was worth the price IMO.

I never had either Rush or old Jackpots with the right baffle >1.75" until I received the new Jackpots. In the interim I also upgraded the cams which increased the sound volume, so it's hard to describe the various configurations I've experienced on this bike. OTOH here's an attempt:

1. Rush w/std. 1.75" baffles: Never liked the sound quality with their raspy bark at roll-on. Performance was good. Used sheet-fiberglass packing, I think.

2. Rush w/FM custom baffles (asymmetrical, 2" right side): Much better sound, much less raspy, noticeable upgrade in performance. Used pelleted Silent-Sport packing material.

Note: All Jackpots I've owned had the dyno-tuned baffles.

3. Old Jackpot w/1.75" right baffle: Can't recall sound difference from #2, but was similar--probably quieter with smaller baffle. Had SE255 cams when the mufflers were first installed and the sound level went from perfect with stock cams to a tad too loud. Also used Silent-Sport packing.

4. New Jackpot w/std. baffles (~2" I think on right side): Too loud for my taste with the 255 cams. Removed them temporarily and re-installed the old Jackpots until the quiet baffles became available. Used a mesh steel material for packing.

5. New Jackpot w/quiet baffles: Much better, no degradation of performance that I could tell, sound level right at my threshold. I'm told they should get quieter after a few hundred miles when packing settles. Sound quality is the best of the group, IMO. Use Silent-Sport packing.

Running Fuel Moto Jackpot dyno tuned slip ons with the quiet baffle, couldn't be happier with the sound. Easily hear the radio at highway speeds 1/2-3/4 volume. Plenty of sound if ya feel the need to crack the whip !!

I've got a newb question about Rush pipes; how do I get to the baffles? I recently bought a used RK and the dealer said the mufflers are Rush. The baffles on my VH's on my Deuce were accessed from the rear, but I'm thinking the muffler has to come off to get to the Rush baffles?

You should not have any problems putting the pipes off tht 04 onto the 10.
I took the pipes off my 07, (after it was totaled. the pipes were the only part that wasn't damaged). They fit perfectly. They are V & H classics. Wonderful pipes. At first I thought they were too loud, but now I love them. I have noticed alot of power up without a dyna tune and I have had no performance problems at all.
