What is everyone take on Rush exhaust, i have been looking at using these on my 2010 ultra since i can not get a good answer on whether my SE II off of my 04 classic will fit the new 2010.
Take a look at the Jackpot dyno tuned slip ons. I just put these on my road king and they sound great. The chrome/quality is great on these too. http://www.jackpotmufflers.com/dynotuned.htm
Rush exhaust are very popular add ons because lots of the Harley franchises are dealers for Rush. I have run mine for 25000 miles. I was expecting the packing to blow out before now and the bike would become too loud for my old ears to tolerate. But that has not occured. There has been no discoloration on the chrome either. Again, I was expecting some because I ride primarily at 70-75 mph speeds. No sign of rust either. I do keep them waxed up so was not anticipating rust problems.
As far as your earlier SE mufflers matching up with the muffler mounts on the 2010, I would be very surprised if they would work. Don't forget that the touring bikes all got a new frame starting with 2009 models, so it is not likely the old mufflers would mount up with the rear rubber shakers/mount that the new bikes have. I can not say for sure they would not mount up but I would be surprised if they did. It would be fairly easy to hold up a muffler on one side or the other to see if they will bolt up. Again, the rear rubber mount would likely be the problem. I think the pipes are probably the same diameter but have not looked at a 2010 to be sure.
I just put a set of Rush slip-ons, 1.5" baffles, on my '10 Ultra Limited. They have a nice tone, bark a little under acceleration, and you don't have to do a download or A/C change with those baffles. Fuel Moto told me I could go to a 1.75" baffle without any changes. Jr.
I have Rush w/ 2" baffles they are OK by me, had them apart @ 15K the right packing was 50% gone the left was fine. Repacked at that time. Chrome seems good as mentioned but still less than a year old.
I had Rush w/2" Baffles on my 09 EGC. Sound was great! I put almost 13K miles on them. I would do the stage1 if I changed anything. I know people and service guy's will tell you, you can put slip-on's on and not remap, but you will not get the throttle response and power increase unless you do both. More air in, more air out! simple math
I have an 09 Ultra and I installed the se IIs off my 05 roadking and they fit perfectly with no problems. I really dont know about the 10s but i had no problems.
With that, I think I am going to try the Stage 1 kit from Fuel Moto. The hp and torqued gain is substantial and I understand that the price is right.
Good luck with your choice
I have Rush on my 2010 and like them just fine. The SEII off your 04 will work on your new bike just fine they have the same mounting points at the rear.
