Default After market horns - Patience; please

Good day.
So I read all the forum posts in regards to after market horns. I decided to go with the NAPA horn recommendation. I wanted something that would fit under the existing "cow bell".
Got the horn, mounted it and connected the wires. The wiring for the horn is through a horn relay which I had to install for another after market horn which turned out to be nothing but garbage.
Anyway, I tried the horn and it's not very loud. It seems that much of the horn "Noise - sound/vibration" is being absorded into the bike. I took the horn off and used rubber washers between the horn and bike and believe it or not; that made the sound even less.
To the guys that recommended the NAPA or replacement or to those that have used a similar product - "Am I missing something here?" I believed from the posts that the horn was extremely loud - "What say you"?

Mounting brackets make a lot of difference in the volume and tone of electric horns. Most horns have the bracket designed to maximize resonance and they have specific mounting requirements. As you found out rubber washers will not allow the horn to resonate properly.
Try mounting it with a steel (or stainless) washer under the bracket and to a solid place on the bike.

I had installed a louder FIAMM horn, maybe called the 'freeway blaster'. I found that if I snugged the cover on too tightly, it would diminish the sound greatly, I think it was compressing the horn diaphragm or something technical like that. If I back off the bolt a little bit, the loudness would return.

I have the Fiamm hi/low combo. My friends say my bike sounds like a big Buick. I had to ground them separately for max sound. One is under the cowbell and the other is behind the forks on the neck. It's black, so it blends in.
