Default What Fits What? Exhaust system compatibility '91 FLHTCU

Not sure if I am in the correct pew, but here it goes...

Looking for an OEM exhaust for my '91 Ultra, that the PO had a Thunderheader on. I'm not much of a flat black sort of guy, I want to go back to duals with aftermarket mufflers. My question is, in my search, what model years interchange with this old dinosaur? I know pre-FI is a must, but other than that, I am just guessing.

I also need to replace the seat, again, what model years are bolt on swaps for this era FLHTCU?

I don't want to end up with a shelf full of used oarts that won't fit. Thanks for the help, folks.

Hey, folks, if this isn't a good place to ask this, what forum would be correct? I'd really like to be able to find out what model years are interchangeable. Thanks!

This is the right forum. Perhaps you can try a better (more descriptive) title. Like "Exhaust interchange for a 91 Ultra"

No need to just go pre-EFI...doesn't matter on the exhaust side...I know of a guy that put the head pipes from an '07 on his 88 bagger and another that put an'06 on his '91, only difference is where the mufflers go on the pipes for the earlier models...a post-95header system and you can run any muffler from '95-'10.

Seats '91 to '96 are bolt on replacements.

You can retrofit systems from later models if you get the complete system. 1991 models used a muffler that had a "flanged" inlet .. there "slip fit" mufflers wouldn't fit. Do a search and you might find a complete system for a reasonable price. I got a complete system off of a later model for a friend about a year ago for the price of shipping and we put it on his 1992 FLHTCU ... Hope this helps.

Since you have a '91 it is an EVO, there is an EVO sub-forum here that you can post on. I have a '95 EVO and a 2003 twin cam, but, am not sure if the pipes from the twin-cam would fit on the EVO.

I would search for pipes for an EVO, say 90 to 95 years, and they should fit.

Seats after 95 will not fit, I don't think, and the mounts were changed, so again stick with '90 to '95 to be sure.
A good source for used parts is eBay, just watch for scammers. If you want new pipes there are many online sources one being J&P cycles as an example.

You can also go to any local swap meets and hunt for what you need, but, be sure to verify they will fit so stick within that date range and FL model.

You do know that this is a 5 year old thread? I think he probably solved his problem...
