New stereo and arc amp shuts off
Just installed a new pioneer P4200ub stereo w/ the hawg wired install kit which was easy and a perfect fit, and a arc 2 channel amp, running two 6.5 focals in the fairing and two 6.5 kenwoods in the lower fairing. Sounds awesome but after about 45 minutes of cranking the tunes it shuts down so I turn it off a minute and start it up again. So my question is can the amp be over worked and overheating or what? Any feed back.
Sounds like that is exactly what is going on. What ohm are the speakers you are running? If they are both 2ohm then that is too much load on the system. Also, check your gains, if they are too high this will also do this.
Mine does the same thing.I'm running the stock head unit with the ARC amp,2 ARC 6.5's and 2 5.25's 4 ohm speakers.
I talked to fire cap last year about this..He said to look at the lights on the amp when this happens. They will blink for a code reading.
Thought I had a bad speaker(replaced) but still does it.
Have not got back to him or called ARC.

I want to say Focals in the fairing are 4 ohm and kenwoods in lower leg fairings are 3 or 3.5 ohm, I know that sounds odd, I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the reply I'll adjust the gains back a bit, I had them set at about 3:00 on the arc amp, maybe I should call arc themselves to see what they say. Or wonder if an arc 4 channel amp would fit and do a better job running 4 speakers. Thanks
Have you tried changing the Gain on the amp? Turn both adjustments up till
the indicator is just past vertical and pointing between the “A” & “I” on the writing on the word “Gain” above the top dial. Once Wayne told me about the new setting mine don't shut turn off. I was running the stero wide open alos he told me to keep it about 2 bars from wide open on sound. Hope this helps

Thanks cap5369 on the reply I'll adjust the gains back to that setting and try that. Yes Wayne's a good man has helped me a number of times. Would it help to run the fairing speakers off the amp and the lower speakers off the deck? Or would the sound be way off?

If you have already talked to Wayne (Firecap501) you have probably talked about how to wire four speakers to a two-channel amp. For those who haven't, this explanation was helpful explaining speaker impedance and series/parallel wiring:

As for the ARC 4-channel amp, it's unlikely that it can be installed in an EG or SG without significant modification to the vertical (black) fairing brackets to accommodate the wiring connections to the amp. On an RG, the amp can be installed between the glove box and inner fairing.
If you want a 4-channel in-fairing amp on an EG or SG, take a look at the new Hogtunes 4-channel amp. It's 40W X 4 (160 watt).
