I just got a Sony Marine stereo from Biketronics this week. It's not in yet. If the bike is in the rain or getting wet for some reason, are you better off leaving the detachable face on?

For the guys that have had problems, how is Biketronics customer service?

i had the same problem, I washed my Bike and wasn't paying attention knelt down and the water went straight into the removable faceplate causing the unit to not function at all for 2 days until it dried, then for the next couple of days the controls wouldn't work correctly after about a week everything was fine . every once in a while the stereo will have a slight glitch

I got the Biketronic Sony set up on my 09 FLHT in Sturgis last year. It works great. Leave the splash cover they give you on all the time and don't spray water directly on it.

That splash cover tends to come off so secure it some how (don't ask me how I know this). I drilled a small hole on the bottom side and ran my Aux in cable from the Sportster Sirius Radio on the handle bar to the input in the face plate through it. This way the I won't lose the splash plate.

Radio is off bike and on the way to Bike Tronics to be replaced under warranty. Hopefully I will have a new one in the next week or so... I miss the tunes.

I will install mine at some point this weekend. Bike has been sitting for awhile so it needs a bath. I got the splash cover, now I am glad I got it.

I bought my Biketronic's kit two years ago. I leave the rain cover on all the time and have ridden in downpours. No problems .. I didn't get the marine grade radio.

I don't let the dealer wash my bike after servicing. I'm afraid they will spay water straight on the radio.

Anyone know if just a new faceplate will work for a fix?

I just had the same problem last weekend. I washed the bike carefully missing the radio(so I thought) and had the tunes on the whole time. Dried the bike and waxed it. Took about an 1 1/2 hours to do all this. The next day I go out and the radio looks like its working(lights all come on) but the only button that works is 'OFF'. I can put a CD in and it will play at the volume the radio was left at but I can't get anything else to work. Pisses me off and Sony C.S didn't seem to know what to think. Since I bought the bike second hand there is no warranty. Sony CDX-GT620ip. I'm cheap and don't want to buy a new radio if possible and would like to buy the tuner I have saved for. Anyone with a thought. Thanks

That is exactly what mine was doing... only the "off" button would work. The sucky thing too is that the dealer that got my stereo wet wouldn't do anything about it. Said they didn't do anything so they're not responsible. Good thing it was still under warranty.

If you haven't done so yet, what radios are you having a problem with? I ask because it may be a specific brand that is having the problem.
